Hello Nooklings, happy Saturday!
It's been a while hasn't it? October hit me out of nowhere! Everything was fine and dandy and then there I was, drowning in university work, tired all the time, and struggling emotionally. So, I took a step back while I got into the swing of things with my studying. I now have a routine that isn't leaving me exhausted at the end of every day and that is adaptable for those bad fibro days, so fingers crossed, I can now fit my blogging into that routine!
A few exciting things happened in October! Some of you may have seen that I did a video about HMS Unicorn This is the first of hopefully many videos like this where I explore heritage sites around Scotland (and probably England , too). That is up on the History Nook TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels. I'm going to be reaching out to a few other locations this week to ask for permission to film. Some heritage sites and museums don't allow filming so it's always important to ask first.
I also went to an Open University day school, which was honestly very exhausting - I had such a bad fibro crash, like one of the worst I have ever had - the day after. It was however, very fun and informative. It was also nice to be able to connect with other students from my tutorial group, and my tutor. Sometimes, the benefits outweigh the costs. Yeah, I had to spend a day in bed with a few unpleasant symptoms I'll not mention here, but it was definitely worth it.
The end of October is the anniversary of my mom's death, and that always hits me, hard. So I had already intended to take a few days off of writing for that. I just didn't realise how much the rest of October was going to drain me both mentally and physically.
And now for some History Nook news! We have our first collaborator! My lovely housemate, Endy, is going to be sharing some dinosaur content here on the website! She has already been doing this in the Discord server, but I thought her writing would be a great addition tot he website.
That is all for now, I'm going to eat my lunch and then do some Latin practice.
Until next time, stay curious, Signa
